Day 1: October 8, 2018

Upon arrival at Porto airport, meet and greet by your Tour director. Proceed with a city tour: Porto, known as the "beautiful lady" of Portugal, has been granted world heritage status since 1996. You will experience the "beautiful and mysterious lady" that is Porto. As one of the most ancient cities in Europe, she is full of historical and cultural memories. You will enjoy this unique and unforgettable tour through Porto’s most attractive areas such as the Ribeira quarter, St. Francisco church and the Stock exchange with its Arabian hall. Afternoon free. In the evening enjoy the tasting of Porto wine in an atmosphere that will take you on a journey through the past.

Day 2: October 9, 2018

Enjoy a full-day boat cruise excursion from Porto to the Douro valley, and enjoy views of the wineries of the Alto Douro wine region. Depart from Cais da Estiva in the Ribeira of Porto; marvel at the scenery of the Rio Douro as you head into the UNESCO-inscribed wine region of the alto Douro wine region. Admire the land that has been producing wine for 2,000 years, producing a landscape of terraces, wine farms and roads that has been molded by human endeavor over the centuries. Reach the Vrestuma-Lever dam, built between 1976 and 1985, and a marvel of modern engineering. Continue to the Carrapatelo dam, a concrete gravity dam of impressive heights (and even more inspiring than the last dam). You will reach Régua at approximately 03:00 pm, where you will take a return bus/train to Porto. Return to your hotel for the night.

Porto • Coimbra • Fatima

Day 3: October 10, 2018

This morning, start a drive south through the Buçaco National Park to Coimbra, the third-largest city in Portugal, to visit the University of Coimbra, among the oldest universities in Europe, with more than 700 years of history. In the afternoon, drive to Fatima, one of the most important Catholic shrines in the world dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Here, visit the great Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary built in neoclassical style, flanked by colonnades linking it with the extensive convent. Dinner and overnight.

Fatima • Tomar • Evora

Day 4: October 11, 2018

Continue your journey to Tomar, one of Portugal’s historical jewels: visit to the hilltop Convent of Christ with its famous Manueline window. Later, drive south and cross the Tagus river. Stop in Castelo de Vide and enjoy a stroll through the old Jewish Quarter. Here you can find one of the oldest synagogues in the country, although all that remains is one modest little room. Continue to Evora for dinner and overnight.

Evora • Algarve

Day 5: October 12, 2018

This morning, enjoy a guided tour of Evora. Discover the town's massive walls and Roman Temple, early Gothic Cathedral, and Sao Francisco Church that is famous for its Ossuary chapel, whose walls are decorated with thousands of human bones and skulls. Head on to see Evora’s main square, the Praça do Giraldo, and the cobbled streets of this former Royal town. Later, continue to Algarve province for the night.

Day 6: October 13, 2018

Leisurely drive to Faro; A day dedicated to the The Algarve’s gastronomy: Allow our tour guide to inform you on the history and culture of the stable Portuguese food, ‘bacalao’ (salt fish), alongside freshly caught fish and seafood. Experience exotic lands while touring sacks of curries from India, piri piri and rich spices from Africa. In the Algarve’s city of Guia, as per locals, is where some of the best ‘frango piri piri’ (spicy grilled chicken) got its fame. We will also visit iconic Farmer’s Market in Faro. Cooking lesson followed by a lunch. Late afternoon return to the hotel.

Day 7: October 14, 2018

Faro • Sintra • Lisbon

Day 8: October 15, 2018

After breakfast we drive to Sintra, a beautiful town situated on the green slopes of a mountain range. In Sintra you will have an opportunity to taste the local cheese cake – “queijada”, and visit the impressive Sintra Palace. Continue to Lisbon for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: October 16, 2018

Tour of Lisbon, one of the oldest cities in Europe, over 2,000 years old, and capital of Portugal since 1147. We start with a panoramic tour that will take us through the most historical and traditional points of the city, such as the park Edward VII, Liberty avenue, Restauration square, Rossio square, the downtown (rebuilt after the earthquake of 1755) and commerce square. Continue to Belém, which is known as the “discoveries quarter”. Visit the Tower of Belém. Afterwards we make a photo stop at the monument to the discoveries that celebrates the Portuguese discoveries and specially henry the navigator. We continue by visiting the Jeronimus Monastery, built in the 16th century in manueline style. On to Alfama, the quarter where the city was born. The afternoon is free to spend your time in the downtown on your own, shopping and strolling around. Tonight, enjoy Fado dinner.

Day 10: October 17, 2018

Breakfast at the hotel. Spend the day at leisure.

Depart Lisbon
